Husband. Dad. Age 53 runner. Marathon Maniac #3487. Qualified for 2013 Boston Marathon. The journey began in 2007 as a walk/jog for fitness. Then, it continued with my first marathon at New Orleans in 2010. After qualifying for Boston in late 2011, my hope is to make it through the registration process during September 2012 and actually run the Boston Marathon in April 2013.

Going for the Triple Crown

Heading West. It's official! I am now entered into the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon at San Diego on June 6th. I had not planned to run another marathon until later this fall....until I got "The Email". The RnR people sent an email out to all the marathoners that were herded off the course after Mile 20 during the stormy weather in Nashville. The email included another apology and an offer for a discounted entry into another RnR event and 50 slots were opened for two closed out events. I did some quick looks at San Diego on the internet...and in no time I replied to RnR that I wanted in on that event!

Coach, Get me Ready! I asked my new training coach, Jeff Kline, http://www.prsfit.com/, if he thought it was a good idea to go after this marathon since I just got back from the Nashville race and there's only 5 weeks until San Diego....or would it be better to hold off and get started into my new training program working towards the fall marathon lineup. I asked if he could do something during the next few weeks to make me a little more prepared than I have been. He asked how I felt right now and I said I am ready to run! He spruced up my training routine and off we go. Yikes!
Mild Weather Marathon in June? I couldn't believe how mild the San Diego weather typically is even in the summer time. The last thing I wanted was to go run a warm weather marathon. Of course, there's still that possibility, but I am now fully committed. My hotel and plane ticket were reserved even before I received confirmation that I would be one of the lucky 50 people to get in. So, today RnR sent me instructions to make the entry and now I am officially registered. Woot!

Triple Crown Bling. I stated sometime ago, before ever running my first marathon, that I wanted to go for the Triple Crown bling this year. That would require completing three Rock n Roll events in a calendar year. I never expected that I would actually fulfill that, much less to do it in the first half of the year. So, all I have to do is crawl across the finish line at San Diego and a few weeks later, the Triple Crown will come my way!
